Cake Industries worked closely with the client and architect to develop this innovative s-shaped semi-spiral stair for a basement extension in Hampstead. Working from the space available in the plan, Cake developed a series of options and material studies to allow the client to understand the design options available, before developing a special solution.
The central spine of the stair is a rolled steel circular hollow section that wind through the helical spiral of the solid oak treads. All of the oak is blackened and waxed, with a brass handrail and brass tread inserts.
