Tate Draw
Working closely with DePass Montgomery and ‘The Workers’, Cake Industries built three versions of these permanent, interactive, installations for the Tate Galleries. In both iterations, a robust, ergonomic solution was required, with sloping desks covered in coloured desktop vinyl, housing digital sketch pads to serve hundreds of visitors of all ages every day.
The locations in Tate Modern adopt a stripped back industrial aesthetic with base frames constructed from welded and powder coated steel joists, while a simple faceted design with bureau style legs respond to Tate modern’s curving walls and classical architecture.
A modular design was adopted for both desk styles to enable swift, out-of-hours installation with minimum disruption to the galleries.
