Pipe Up

Designed by artists from the Royal College of Art in London, ‘Pipe Up’ represents three sections of a fallen classical column. The reinterpreted semi-cylindrical forms provide sculptural interest and public seating for a new development on the Albert Embankment in London.

Working with ceramicists from Darwen terracotta, the artists had created a series of glazed porcelain segments, glazed in vivid blue with a pink speckle to be bolted together. Our design team developed three galvanised steel skeletons to tie the structures together, providing stability for both transport and their long-term position.

The 3m x 1.2m sculptures were fully assembled and connected to their frames in our workshop, delivered to site via Hiab and set in position on rubber pads.
