Manor Royal
‘Keki’s Fusion’ is a sculpture created by artist Karl Singporewala to represent the joys and memories of fatherhood with its form based on a stellated pentakis icosidodecahedron, a 3d representation of the old Rediffusion logo.
The weathering steel polyhedron stands on three galvanised steel legs in Manor Royal’s “Superhub” transportation destination.
From the artist’s initial sketches and ideas, Cake Industries created a parametric tool to allow the artist to experiment with different geometrical forms. We then designed a series of laser cut, folded steel triangular based pyramids that fix to a hollow central steel core to form the polyhedron. Three simple circular hollow section legs are fixed to the core to create a tripod that transfers wind loads to the ground via screw -piled foundations.

The six metre by three metre sculpture was delivered to site on its side in a bespoke cradle, lifted into position and bolted down to a pre-installed foundation.
